Colombia Update Sep/2024

LUIS & RUTH PRADA

With over 52 million people, Colombia enjoys freedom of religion. However, Roman Catholicism is the dominant faith. Almost 80% of the population is considered Catholic. Similar to most countries in Latin America, the Catholic Church influences nearly all aspects of life. Society is living between the solid Catholic roots and the changes in secularist philosophies that mainly influence younger generations through the Internet. For example, the Constitutional Court decriminalized abortion in all circumstances up to the 24th week of pregnancy. Indeed, there is the presence of the Evangelical churches. About 13% of the population is part of the different evangelical churches in the country. With this background in mind, reaching millions of people with the Gospel in Colombia is an enormous task. Knowing that millions of people live without the security of their eternal destiny, we desire to reach as many ears and hearts as possible with the Gospel of salvation. Within the last two decades, the Lord has opened many outlets to proclaim the Gospel all over Colombia. Our missionaries, Luis and Ruth Prada have been investing hours in contacting radio stations to introduce our programs. As a result of their efforts, over 470 stations are broadcasting our programs. The Gospel is broadcast almost 4,300 times a week through radio waves. We thank the Lord for Prada’s commitment as they constantly seek new outlets to broadcast the programs.
