SMAILY & ROSANA ROSARIO

According to a 2019 survey, 49% of the population in the Dominican Republic is Catholic. Other 25% declared no religion, identified as atheist or agnostic, or associated with different religions such as Adventists or Jehovah’s Witnesses. Though the constitution of this country provides freedom of religion and belief, the Roman Catholic Church is considered the official state religion. We praise the Lord because, according to this survey, 26% of the Dominicans are evangelicals. But despite this percentage, people all over this country live without the assurance of their salvation. According to another survey, almost 67% of the population consider that crime, poverty, corruption, and unemployment, along with other serious social problems, create a pessimistic future for the Dominicans. Indeed, the presence of different religious traditions gives the impression that the Dominican is a conservative society. However, the reality is that millions of people on this island must have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. Smaily and Rosanna joined Spanish World Ministries in 2013. Throughout the years, they have desired to increase the number of outlets airing our evangelistic programs. By their first year serving with SWM, they had 65 radio stations in their database. Ten years later, our programs are broadcast 1,500 times weekly through 240 radio stations. As a ministry, we feel extremely blessed by Smaily and Rosanna’s commitment as they serve the Lord in the Dominican Republic.
