ROBERTO & DOLY ACUÑA

For several decades, Paraguay had no missionaries or stations broadcasting our programs. In 2002, Spanish World Ministries decided to add a couple to represent our ministry in this country. Roberto and Doly Acuña began their role as missionaries in September of this year. As they started to contact radio stations, the Lord blessed their efforts, and stations agreed to broadcast our materials. Also, some churches were willing to sponsor our programs on local radio stations. As Roberto introduced the programs on secular radio stations, he always left a sample of our programs to the owners, saying, “Our programs will help your audience to find the peace and hope much needed in our country.” Although the owners labeled our programs “religious,” as they listened to the samples, they realized that our programs talked about the real peace that only Christ can give. As the years went by, the number of stations in Paraguay started to increase. By 2006, 110 radio stations were broadcasting both of our programs. Twenty-one years later, 237 radio stations have agreed to broadcast both of our programs. What is impressive is that of this number of stations, 83% are secular. This means that 196 non-Christian radio stations are airing the message of the Gospel through radio waves. Since Guarani is the most common language among the Paraguayans, Spanish World Ministries decided to launch the production of our short programs in Guarani. Roberto agreed to take on the challenge of translating, recording, and distributing the programs in this language. Praise the Lord, 238 Guarani stations have agreed to receive our material in Guarani. With over 3,600 weekly broadcasts, the Gospel reaches the ears and hearts of the Paraguayans in Spanish and Guarani.
