We are thankful to the Lord for allowing all the missionaries of Spanish World Ministries, their spouses, the staff, and members of the Board to gather for our 9th missionary conference. In Mark 6:30-31, we read: The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to Him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” The apostles were busy, hungry, and tired.
The Lord knew it was time to find a quiet place to rest. Just as the disciples were, all our missionaries are constantly busy with family and ministry matters. That is why, since 1996, our former director, Cornelius Rivera, established SWM missionary conferences every three years. From November 17th through the 23rd, we will have the blessing of hosting our 9th missionary conference in Panama!
Three goals have been set for this missionary conference. The first goal emphasizes the importance of spiritual nourishment. Under the theme “Lives Committed to Serving,” Cornelius Rivera will deliver a six-part series highlighting biblical principles and the importance of integrity in serving individually, as a couple, and as families within the church and community. We ask for your prayers as Cornelius prepares to teach these vital biblical principles.

The second goal relates to something the disciples did as they reported to the Lord what they had done and taught. Each of our missionaries will provide a detailed report on their efforts to promote our evangelistic content through radio stations and churches in their contexts. Besides hearing how the Lord uses them despite obstacles along the way, the strategies they develop to enhance their ministries will offer valuable insights for other missionaries to consider applying in their own contexts.
With the busyness of life, there are times when it’s hard to find a quiet place to rest. Indeed, our missionaries do take time to do this with their families. However, as a ministry, we believe a quiet place means disconnecting from calls, visits, and home tasks. That’s why the third goal of this conference is to give our missionaries opportunities to enjoy fellowship during mealtimes and other activities throughout the week. Additionally, this goal aims to provide each couple with spaces to spend quality time relaxing away from their daily routines. Pray that these efforts may bring encouragement to every member of our team.
